To save time and network copying, I decided to put together a full
'install set' for our servers on a little external USB2 disk - just
stuff like all the .Net Framework installers, IE7 updater etc
However, I seem to almost randomly run into servers that have issues

I'm trying out Windows 2008 and so far it seems to run much faster than
Vista SP1.    I seem to be able to run almost everything I can with Windows
XP but I can't figure out how to add my custom icons back to the toolbar in
IE7.

I'm sure the answer is obvious but I can't seem to find out where to adjust
the size of desktop icons in Windows 2008.   Even though I have my
resolution set for very high, the icons on my desktop are very large.   I
realize this is a pretty trivial question but I'd still like to ...

I typically check one of my hotmail accounts with outloook express that I
also use with newsgroups but in Win2k8 you use Windows Mail instead of OE.
When I start to set up my e-mail it tells me they don't support it for http
hotmail any more I should use Windows Live Mail - I go ...

I am in the position of having to by new equipment to replace aging production servers. Rather than get 'left behind' we need to get new OS with them as well.

I have really tried to make this work,  before coming here, reading a lot of

My current web server died last week and I've been shopping around for a budget web server.  I've came across two that is within my budget.  The 1st one is a dedicated server with the following spec :-
Windows 2003 Web Edition
1.0GHz Processor
1GByte RAM

Does anyone know if Windows 2008 will be able to prevent simultaneous

the company no longer wanted to use Lotus Notes.

Newbie at this, but I want how do I edit the group policy for a
specific workstation from the server.
I have done so by logging into the machine itself but can I do this
from the server?

I've rebooted a server and *somehow* updates had been installed, and now on
reboot it's stuck at 0% on update 1 of 3, and has been for about 30

non-functional. Almost nothing works any more (no remote desktop, Exchange
etc are all non functional) and the network connectivity icon indicates it's
not connected - however I can ping it from a client ...

I'm testing out Windows 2008 Server.   I'd like to view folders with

How do i disable scandisk from automatically running when the server boots
up, i have a harddrive with some dfs data that windows belives is bad but i
have used 3rd party apps and the disk is fine.  every time it ends up
corrupting my data and the users get angry.  please help!
