It is possible to somehow permit to certain user of Windows Server 2008 to
manage power configuration settings? That security thing is great, but I'm
tired to enter administrative password every time I want to switch power
plan. ^__^

we would like to delete securely a whole hard drive for some of our
servers and workstations.

One of the workstations at my client's sends huge amount of DNS
requests to one IP address based in Russia. I found that by checking
the traffic on local network as users started complaining at slow
network and Internet connection. I run Malwarebytes and Panda on that

On a file server is a ZIP file. When I try to open this ZIP file I get: "Your currect security
settings do not allow this action".

I work for IBM and we have to lock down some directories. I'm trying to take
the no general users on %systemroot%\security. So I removed the user security
on this but I'm getting Access is Denied and I'm the Administrator. Thanks

I'm finding weird logon (not account logons)  attempts on our SBS2k3
box where there is nothing in the User Name or Domain field but

We have McAfee Enterprise v8.7i installed on a Win2k3 STD 32bit Web Server.
I've been playing around with the On-Access Scanner settings to try to get
the virus scanner to scan files only when being written to, but no matter
what settings I adjust, it seems the web server just has ...

I'm thinking of installing an ISA Server 2006 EE, for redundancy in case of
a fall from a server. I have several questions:
1 .- I can configure the ISA within the AD to authenticate users without a
security risk?.

We have a standard windows server 2003 with sql server 2005. I manage this
server. I never use my own credential to login this server. I always use
server-owner as a generic logon to login but I noticed under security of
event logs.

Is it possible to set up a shared folder in Win 2000 or 2003 with
restrictions so it that can only be accessed either from a single host
on the network, or only via a single network interface?  I know you
can use such restrictions when setting up a share on a SAMBA server.

They are coming from usernames like company, webadmin, admin....
Logon type 3,  Advapi, Workstation: it's the main server, and
processes are
store.exe and inetinfo.exe.

I have a client who had an issue this morning where someone had
deleted a large volume of folders on a server. Luckily we were able to
restore the deleted files & folders. But we now want to block users
from deleting folders.
