I have a client that has been in service for server years running
Windows 2003 Std, hundreds of users, all workstations are Win 95 Prof
and all updates/patches, Symantec Corporate Edition 10.0.x on server and
all workstations, proper exclusions as outlined by MS and Symantec, 12

I have a user who was going into the security tap of folders in a public
folder and turning off the inherit from parent checkbox and then selecting
remove to block people from seeing her files.  Kind of dumb since she could

I have a strange problem on our Windows Server 2003 print server.
The server has a total of about 50 printers connected to it, four of them
being HP Laserjet 1022n, connected via standard TCP/IP ports.
When standard users (non-admin) try to print to these four printers, the

I have 13 Windows based servers. Many of these were installed over the
last 3 months as we made the transition from being primarly a Novell
shop to Windows based servers. Here is the breakdown:

Even after we have added people to the new Windows 2003 Performance Monitor
Users group they are unable to get at the performance counters on some of our
servers. The only servers they can access are the domain controllers.

I have not been able to understand how W2K3 Server Enterprise uses domain
names.
Our domain name is an 18 character.com name.  I noticed that often, only the
first 15 characters are used, excluding the last three characters + the

Audit is enable for object access on my computer. I have some records
(560 event) with Security Object Type = File
But it's for file access. Anybody know when the event (560) happened
with Security Object Type = Dir? (not File)
