Consolodating mixed domains26 Feb 2010 14:49 GMT5
We have several domains on our campus that are in desperate need of being
consolodated.  We have an elementary domain that has never had a trust
established between it and the general school domain.  Am I correct in
thinking that it is easier to establish that trust first before ...
Migrating to New Domain25 Feb 2010 22:24 GMT2
I am hoping someone can offer me some advice/guidelines to follow with
migrating from one domain with 2003 DCs to another domain with 2008 DCs. The
person who started this has left the company and I've been asked to look into
getting it completed and I could do with some helpful ...

I have a 2003 dc and have just setup a 2008R2 dc virtual server and a 2008R2

the 2008R2 file server.
2003dc to 2008R2 file server (the users folders setup from AD).
Migrating local users from Web Server 2008 to R218 Feb 2010 14:50 GMT-
We have a Web Server 2008 x64 for our SQL server 2008. There are many
local users created so that the web application sitting on top could
access the DBMS via the local web server 2008 credentials. We opted for
this because there is unlimited CAL for Web Server 2008.

I am performing an upgrade from NT4 to 2003 and have done a bit of testing

suddenly find themselves on an upgraded domain.
Currently, the plan is this:
Print Server Migration - From Windows 2003 to Windows 200816 Feb 2010 21:18 GMT-
I'm trying to backup printers using "Print Management" from the original
Windows 2003 Print Server, so that I can restore into the new Print Server,
which will be Windows 2008 Server x32.  When I attempt the backup, I receive
the following message:
copying from 2003 to 2008R216 Feb 2010 15:01 GMT3
I am trying to copy the users files from 2003dc to 2008dc (virtual server).
I tried robocopy but when it copies the folders it does not do the
permissions correctly.  It puts the sid number instead of the username in the
permissions.

We are in the process of upgrading our windows 2000 (32 bit)  domain to
windows 2008 R2 (64 bit). We are ready for the process but I have few
questions regarding running "prep".
Our domain consists of 10 domains. One Parent and 9 child domains and each

Migration from Windows 2000 to Windows 2008 R203 Feb 2010 16:20 GMT12
Our company are planning to migrate the Windows domain from Windows 2000 to
Windows 2008 R2. Because the user group is small and the existing domain
group policies is somehow messy and undocmented. I prefer to a clear startup.
I will setup a new domain with a Windows 2008 R2 ...
