I have 3 DNS servers in 3 different domains, all AD integrated.
Problem:
The main DNS server (DNS1.company.com)  is transferring/replicating records
with DNS2.company.com but is not transfering the records to
www.domainname.com goes to wrong IP address30 Jan 2009 06:52 GMT8
I've messed up something that now has the following effect on one domain
name, let's say rs.com.
The DNS record for rs.com includes a host A record www.rs.com.
If I browse to rs.com, it goes to the correct page.

I have active directory with dns integrated zones and configured in
dhcp lease for clients 2 DNS servers to back up each other, the backup
DNS is on a different subnet. When main DNS server is down why clients
do not use secondary DNS or is it a timing involved? Clients get

My company is currently doing a dns restructure, where all our sites around
the globe are being added into dns. I really put myself to it and started
with the DHCP machines.
What I noticed is that as soon as I put <site>.<company.local as the primary

I am setting up a 2008 server and am joining clients to the domain.  A
client in teh same subnet as the server can join fine (192.168.0.X), but if
the client is on another subnet (say, 192.168.100.X) I get DNS errors and am

Below is a post of my netdiag, as you can see it shows it is unable to
locate an authoritive DNS server for my system, and also cannot list DC's in

Hi All: I have a SBS2003 domain and a 2008 domain on the same subnet. The
SBS2003 DC is running Update Services, and I want the Update Services server
in the 2008 domain to use it as the update source.
The SBS server is named "sbs-server1" and is using a "myoffice.local" FQDN.

i need permit to a non Microsoft server to make a "dynamic update" for some
record on my Microsoft DNS installed on Win2K3.
I see that the default configuration permit only "secure dynamic update"

i have access to another domain on our WAN and need to add one of our servers

I am at my wits end.  We continually see duplicate records in the DNS reverse
zones, and nothing we have tried has helped the situation.  Now, our
telecommunications professionals have lost patience and they want us to fix
it NOW.
