Questions:
When creating an alias for a hostname, ponting to a another hostname, in the
"wizard" or "settings" the host you point to is named by its FQDN, not IP
adress. Shouldnt I list an IP adress instead of a FQDN on the host pointed

I'm a bit confused about the proper process for upgrading a current DNS
environment. My current environment is:
- W2k sp4 DC is primary DNS
- W2k sp4 DC as secondary DNS (this is root domain controller)

we are running Apache on our server. We need another subdomain to put up
another site. The new site is going to use IIS, so we need to run ISS on a
different port (not 80 that is). Is it possible to solve this with making a
subdomain, so that the ISS webserver on a specific port ...

I have an internal SMTP server that needs to receive mail relayed from my
exchange server. my exhange smtp mail is @company.com. I want to create a
smtp connector that relays all mail sent to @mail.company.com to another non
exchange SMTP server for an internal application.

I just upgraded my dc to 2003 and now I am getting this error when I run
netdiag. Everything seems to be working fine but I would like to fix this
error anyway.
Under the DNS test:

We have an external domain publicdom.com and an internal domain company.int.  
The exchange server sits on the internal domain ex.company.int. with the
appropriate mx record.  How do I properly configure the external DNS servers?
Do I still setup the mx record as ex.company.int ...

At home I have 2 computers (winXP pro and win2k3 ). These 2 computers are
connected to each other via a router. The 2 computers share the same
internet connection. Input on the router is from ISP and my 2 computers are
on output ports.

I have an XP box acting as a webserver. It is joined to an AD domain abc.com
but to users outside our network it is seen as www.xyz.com. It can be viewd
via www.xyz.com from the outside, but internally it can not be resolved.

I am trying to figure this out and i just can't for some reason. Our
DNS is defaulting to our web server's external address sometimes when
I look for another server. It will work just fine for weeks, then all
of a sudden some days it will decide that it doesn't want to look at

Our environment consists of 100+ WAN connected sites. Currently the DNS
service is NOT installed on the DC at each site. DNS is currenty only running

In my DHCP settings, I have created six DNS servers.  Will my clients
