MS DNS and VPN - resolution problems26 Jun 2007 03:35 GMT3
Scenario:  When connected to network via MS VPN, some machine names can not
be resolved.  the work around I have been using is connecting via internal IP
or connecting (via rdp) to another hostname and then rdp-ing to the hostname
i originally wanted to connect to.  Any ideas?

After many tcp/ip problems (resolved) on a w2k server domain controler, I
had to reinstall AD integrated DNS server,
The problem is that it is uncomplete, (nothing like _msdc or _site in the

I'm in need of a bit of help trying to resolve this DNS issue.
I have inherited a small AD network with 2 domain controllers.  1 Win2K
Server and 1 Win2K2 Server.

I have hit stupid mode. I have have three seperate pc's on one domain. Each
server has a different role.
Server 1 = websites frontpage
server 2 =  sharepoint

I have set up a Windows 2003 Server R2 with a domain, DNS server and file
server. I followed the wizard to do this and when I check the server
management wizard it tells me that it is set up correctly.
I have created a container with two users and a group.  Both users are part

I can no longer join computers to my mixed mode domain without "domain cannot
be found" error.  I've added wins to no avail.  Tried lmhost file to no
avail.  I've confirmed that all of the settings are correct, i.e. dns,

We have this weird occurance we have been trying to figure out recently.
Every few days, we will have a record from DNS reverse zone (which is AD

I have two seperate 2003 forests. A DHCP server is running in FOREST1. I
have XP Clients in FOREST2 which get their IP and DNS details from the DHCP

OK, here's the deal.  For the past several months our company has been
receiving a LOT of delayed emails.  Some by a few hours some by a few
days.  As you can guess, this is a serious problem.  I've tried
several things to resolve this situation:
