I'm working on a client's network, and have noticed that old DNS records are
not being scavenged. From what I can tell, everything is configured properly:
- Zone is AD integrated
- IP addresses in question are being assigned via DHCP

My network has 2 DC's.  DC1 is already setup with DNS.  Works fine.  
DC2 does not have DNS installed, so, when I drop DC1, the network, well, ya
know.

We are setting up a new branch office. The office has VPN connectivity to
our HQ office and I have just promoted a new local DC in the branch office by

During a domain rename stunt, I realized that the GUI dns 'manager' had
lost vital objects (or icons).
Normally, in the dns gui's left pane the following icons / folders are

I've recently changed the IP address of my domain controller (running

I have  AD integrated DNS running on my Windows 2003 domain located on a
10.10.1.x subnet. Everything is running fine. There are correct entries for
forward and reverse lookup records. I added a second subnet 10.10.3.x which
is part of my domain. It has its own DC w/DNS server ...

I have a question about a new server, VPN, and DNS.
I am getting this Company that i am doing contract IT for a new Windows 2003
Standard Server, and i was wondering about a few things.
1.  Their website is hosted offsite.

The domain name is like ourcompany.domain.
The servers are named server1 and server 2.
I'd like to redirect all subdomains "server1" and "server2" to the correct

a  lot of *.xls files are stored on this machine.   The *.xls have
macros and links within them.  The problem is, the person that created
these macros and links hard coded "filesrv1" within them.  So...now
