I'm running Windows Server 2003 in a small office network (a dozen
clients). Executing ping on a client and the server return different
results, as follows:

Hello all --- ok, here's the question -- actually several....
I am setting up a new forest (for security, etc..) and a child domain.
The forest has 3 DCs (already setup -- working great!).
The child domain will have 3 DCs (currently only 1 has been setup).

Migrating to 2003 AD from 2000 AD.  Currently have two 2000 DCs in
place, both with DNS.  I have just introduced a 2003 DC into the mix of
things and want to throw DNS on it.  The doubt is primary zone or
secordary zone.  I sway towards primary since I will be retiring the

Recently prep 2000 AD for 2003 DC to eventually migrate to 2003 AD.

I am trying to list all MX records in all zones running on a dns server.
By using 'ls -t mx name of zone' from nslookup or 'dnscmd /enumrecords name
of zone . /type mx' from dnscmd I can get a list of all MX records for a
specific zone.

Playing with DNS  - had put a dns server on  .4  and had set .3 to use
it. Then removed the zone (in prep to turn box into a domain controller to
test dynamic dns)  and ran  ipconfig/flushdns on both  - and the .3 machine
STILL can resolve addresses !?!?

I have two DNS servers (ns1 and ns2).
If I want to restrict zone transfers to these two servers only, do I do it
from the primary DNS server (ns1) or do I do it on both (ns1 & ns2)?
