DNS doesn't work with neither forwardes nor root servers after each OS
reboot, until DNS service is restarted
based on DNS logs, i can say that it does not recieve responses ffrom
forwarders/ root servers for some reason.

On our test network we have DNS setup. We changed the Domain name so I dcpromoed my server down rebooted and dcpromoed back up to the new domain name. DNS did not replicate. By deleting and recreating the zones I could finally get some of the enties in DNS but no service records ...

Just recently started a new job and the company I am working at has 2 DC's
for robustness but only one has DNS running. We have no other DNS server on
site so my question is what do I need to configure DNS on the second DC and

Believe DNS is not properly configured.  Clients are not able to locate a
domain controller when trying to access shared folders on the servers.  Get
following response from NSLOOKUP when checking to see if one of the DCs is

PCs that are members of AD are able to ping a server by dns name - however
PCs that are members of a workgroup are not. Why is this? They are able to

I have another server is named "B"
I am at server B I try to ping at the command promt using "Ping A" and it

I have a network connected by permanent VPN. On both sites running 2003
Server. Also running WINS server on both sites. NIC's are allowing NetBIOS.
From one site I can browse to the other site and find my servers and shares.
But from the other site I only see my domain name but ...
