our organisation's internet was working fine yesterday when I left the
building, and nothing's been changed on our connections, as we can connect to
our other offices through our main internet line.  We are running a Windows
2003 domain.

Hey, I hope there's someone out there who might be able to help me.  I'm
working with a non-profit NGO in Iraq and am having major DNS problems with
my 2003 Server.  Here are the specs:
- I completely reloaded the Windows 2003 Server (with all updates).

Any help would be appreciated.
I have a Windows SBS 2003 Server with DNS forwarders configured properly.
The DHCP scope is configured with the Domain Controller's ip address for DNS.
Clients on the network search the Internet fine.

Firstly may I say I am still learning about DNS. What I would like to see is
the resolution process in full. ie I have used nslookup with the d2 switch
and it shows a query to my local DNS server, after appending my DNS suffix eg
a query for www.google. com becomes www.google. com ...

I've two DC named ILSAS1 and ILSAS2. I found that ILSAS1 got problem when
user complaining that they take some time to login to domain named ILSAS.

Im doing my upgrade exam from 2000 to 2003 70-292 and I am unable to find any
white papers on DNS.  I have even contacted Microsoft directly via phone who
advsied me to look on technet and couldnt tell me if they had one or not.

We are coming over to Server 2003. The question here is should we when
we create the domain create a mydomain.local or the FQDN mydomain.no
The network will have a Linux FC4 gateway server (2 nic's - 1 public
add, 1 local 10.0.0.0) hosting Apache, FTP, DHCP, secondary DNS and

I have one host with two IPs (10.X.X.X & 194.X.X.X) and i want it to be

Hi ~ when attempting to delete DNS entries I receive an error message:
"The domain can not be deleted.  The zone does not exist."  How can I delete
domain entries?

I have scavenging setup for the default 7 days/7days at the zone level in DNS
for several zones.  I still have many old records that are months old that
are not getting purged.  Even if I do a manual scavenge, some records are not
getting purged.  The DNS event log does not show ...

I recently setup a Windows 2003 server for a client. I use internet FQDN for
the AD domain.
When I tested the DNS service using NSlookup, I got a timeout issue in
forward lookup on the DC itself.

These warnings appear regularly on our Server 2000 FSMO:

DNS lookups slow on Windows Server 200329 Dec 2005 00:19 GMT2
After coming back from the holiday weekend, I've noticed that all DNS
queries going to my Win2k3 DC/DNS server (both intranet and internet
lookups) have slowed dramatically.  My network is a DSL home network,
with one server acting as the DC, DNS, and DHCP server.  This is a

Our internal windows domain MyOrganization.org is the same as our
external domain www.MyOrganization.org. I created www and mail Host(A)
records in the dns and everything worked fine until a few days. Now the
DNS cannot resolve the Host(A) records pointing to the external IP. I
