i want to join a winXP client in a domain for apply group policies the problem is that the domain controller isn't in the local area network but in another subnet connecetd with router how can i obtain the name of the DC while joining the client?

We are moving our users off Novell to AD. How can we move the user’s data into the new AD account? In the past I had to copy the user data from the old user’s folder into the new one. I am looking for a tool that will automate this process for us we have 400 accounts to move.
