We had problems with wan lines between several lines. There was a storm and
it cut down optical lanes of ISP provider. Several sites were unreachable. So
I would get several KCC errors. Those errors are continuing and getting
worse.

when I try to add folder/file permission to groups, I can

We have a number of bureaus which are on 384mb VPN connections. The DC/GC's
are central locations.
We've found that when users make changes to multiple (lots of files) they're
reporting major slowdowns because the machines have to query the DC's

I have a forest root that contains a separate tree and domain. I would like
to add the doma in admins group from the forest root domain to every machine
that is in the separate domain. Can i use restricted groups to do this? i
need to scan all machines on the network for missing ...

Using HP dataprotector to migrate data to new AD enviroment. Data is backed
up and restored but of course the local AD group is not added to the group
shares and what not. Is there a way to us the "net" command to add the local
group to all the shares as not to do it manually? ...

a colleague of mine is trying to use ADSI to look up a user using the
following notation:
LDAP://ad.cob.edu/<GUID=090BD0E926B7BE48AE0A0E76A1C24773>
according to documents we have this should work.

Has anyone done this before?  Rename a domain.  I am about to do it and I
have a question or two.  
1)  what happens to the exchange server email adresses?  do they
automatically rename as well?

I've been trying to use the dsadd group command, but I got confused with the
command sintax.
I'd like to create a new domain local group.

We have the built in XP firewall turned off but when we converted to 2003 AD
this past weekend we noticed the firewall turn back on.  Since we don't have
any GPO defined as of yet did AD do this or did our machines just take a WUS
update that turned it on.  Thanks

after migrating all my network computers some do not want to connect to the
domain active directory 2003. This happened randomely. If I eject the
computer and bring it back to the domain every thing works fine. I don't want
to do this with all the  500 computers. Can someone help ...

I have 3 IIS servers on a remote subnet with one 2003 domain controller.  
There is a direct connection back to this office with 2 2000 domain
controllers here.  The 2003 controller replaced a 2000 controller at the
remote site last month.

I have lost the ntds.dit file on thedc that hold the PDC, RID,
Infrastructure and the other master roles, i have 2 other Dc, that keeping
the network running for now..
How do i recover the dc withouth the .dit file, i have the log files left.

135 is being blocked by our firewall, no chance of it being changed.
Need a way around this issue.  Both domains are 2003 native mode.  I
have tried KB224196(changing RPC port) with no luck.
