What's best: Less settings, more GPO's - or the other way around?20 Jul 2005 13:40 GMT4
I've been wondering, what results in the most overhead on the domain
servers?
Having a GPO for each setting (a GPO named "Disable Error Reporting
Service" which only does that), or having less GPO's, that covers more

Sysvol replication problems20 Jul 2005 10:19 GMT3
We have a strange problem with one of our domain controllers, running
Windows Server 2003. The main symptom is that the sysvol share is not being
replicated.
I found an article on the Microsoft knowledge base (atricle 315457)
Importing users with passwords20 Jul 2005 09:24 GMT1

Replacing and Upgrading a Win2k DC to Win2k319 Jul 2005 23:02 GMT3
Our environment has 4 Win2K Domain Controllers, and I would like to upgrade
them to Win2K3, but I would like to use fresh hardware to do so rather than

Ideally, I would like the new servers running Win2k3 to have the same ...
Windows CAL for AD domain having both W2K and W2K3 DC19 Jul 2005 21:43 GMT1
Originally, we had a domain contains 2 W2K DC, you bought enough CALs for
it. Now we want to add one of W2K3 DC in the same domain. Do I have to buy
the same quantity W2K3 CALs as before for the old users? If the W2K3 DC is
only used by a remote site users, can I only buy the ...
Active Directory Forced Replication Problem19 Jul 2005 21:08 GMT3
I've been working several weeks on a biting problem.  I've got a DC in one

are W2K DC's, SP4 over a Frame Link Connection.
First issue: Forced Replication will not work.  The error is "One or more of
dfs19 Jul 2005 20:56 GMT2
If I had a server share at \\server01\public, but I wanted to redirect
people that type in \\serverx\public, would I use dfs to facilitate this?
If so, I'm not exactly sure how to execute this.  I see where I can create a
target root, which I would assume would be ...

A tiny company (1 NT4 server + 6 users) wants to upgrade to a new
WS2003 server & AD domain.  The NT4 server is a fairly simple File & Print
server.  But it is old! (Jan.2001, Pentium 3/866Mhz?, 256MB RAM, 25GB disk
free)  I'm considering options for them.
