After the last windows update the Malicious Software Removal Tool got installed on my windows 2000 pc. Is there a way I can disable this and only run it when i want it to run. At the moment its killing the processing on my pc and cant do anything on it

I've just setup a new Windows Web Server 2008 machine. I installed the OS and joined it to my domain, setup some shared folders and copied some files on to it. I had it running really well on the LAN. Then I insttaled a 2nd NIC which I connected directly to our external router

We have the following problem : we created on a partition a folder called data which has been encrypted with EFS. We always want to keep that folder encrypted. Unfortunaly a user can decrypt that folder via the 'Advanced Attributes'

Getting a "... You may not have appropriate permissions ... " message when trying to run an exe. The exe is on a small business server (2003) and the message occurs when the user is logged on to a windows 2003 server. No problem when running from any other client machine

Update on the situation: MS apparently "recalled" the Defender update released on 24 Jun-08. If the Defender "Alert!" icon is still displaying in Notification Area, open Defender and click on Check for Updates. You should get a "No updates available" response and Defender ...
