First, I'd like to say I am not a IT professional, only trying to fix our
server, so bear with me....
A couple of days ago everyone stopped being able to go to our website -
hosted by an outside company.  I called them and they said they had been

I have a NT network where the nodes receive IP addresses
and DNS automatically from the server.  I bought a few
Dell Dimension pc's with  XP Pro on them. They worked
fine with the server giving them their IP address and

Sorry but I have a really stupid question on NSLookup.  My
DNS server is 172.16.10.1, when I type nslookup to go into
interactive mode I receive the following response:

I have an issue with my DCHP Server handing out the wrong
dns info when users logon in the morning.  I am running
NT4.0 as the dchp & the primary dns.  The problem is
happening almost exlusively with xp boxes. but there are

I have just inherited an old NT 4.0 network.  They have a
DNS server here but with very few hosts added.  They claim
in February when they installed this one off Linux
firewall that Ping -a stopped resolving names.

Old setup:  single domain residing behind Symantec
Enterprise Firewall (SEF).  The internal DNS server was
setup with forwarders.  The forwarder actually pointed to
the internal interface of the SEF.  The SEF proxied the

We have an organization with three locations here. All locations connected
via frame relay. All locations have PDC and BDC, also have their local DNS
like loc1.sample.com, loc2.sample.com, loc3.sample.com. The problem is
location1 can browse location2, and connect to any client ...

My problem seems pretty basic after looking through other
posts for an answer.  But I'm hoping it's so easy that
someone can answer me.

I have a couple of DNS servers which are running on NT 4.0,
Point 1.
DNS server's are supporting/servicing 2 Domains say A & B,
servers are sitting in B domain ( kinda resource domain)

OK running NT 4.0 SP6a with DNS and IIS, most other services disabled.
A few days ago we seem to loose the info for two sub domains. I then
re-entered the info ( just MX records). And today (after a scheduled
reboot/defrag) we have the same problem as before, no info on the sub

I have a primary server with primary DNS Zone,  I made
another server to act as secondary, after i replicated the
zone and could see the database from the Secondary
server.I want to take this Secondary server to the test
