I have this weird situation, on this particular pc when i
am logged in as administrator i can do name resolution,
like typing www.yahoo.com in IE and it works, but same
thing i try under user account this pc goes no where.

I have tried all the obvious means to connect a new XP
workstation to our NT4 PDC but it always fails. Worse, If
I create an instance of the Machine Name on the NT server
using Server manager the whole network crashes.

When I issue a ping from my XP client, to any of our other XP clients,
it returns the ip adr. of our win2003 web-server(214.161.234.75) like this:

I want to write a DNS resolver to support e-mail blacklisting.  I'll need to
do DNS and reverse DNS lookups.  I'll be writing in C++.
I've been reading the appropriate RFCs (1034 and 1035) as well as some
relevant tutorials.  I can use NSLOOKUP to walk myself through the relevant
