Does anyone have an idea how the Windows 2003 Media Server can stream an
mpeg2 stream (either from file or from a live source) ?
Restrict Stream Access with Folder Security Permissions Multiple Groups Server 2003?31 Dec 2004 14:24 GMT1
I'm stumped on this one. Server 2003 - I am trying to create 2
directories to hold media files that will be streamed. Each directory
will hold content that is only available to one group.

Windows Media 9 Server will not play multicast30 Dec 2004 06:01 GMT2
I have a WM9 Server and have seemingly lost the ability to multicast.
Last night the server was multicasting, but this morning I am unable
to connect.

Network share as a Publishing Point source30 Dec 2004 05:49 GMT6
I tried setting up a remote share for WM9 Services, following the
article below that David Chen gave to Blake Crosby on 9/16/2004, but
had trouble from the start. I mapped a directory on a remote computer
to the drive letter "Z:" at the WM9 Server. The remote computer and
Published items, Appear to not use Media Services29 Dec 2004 22:39 GMT1
We have a server setup with W2k3 and WM9 Services.
We have a IIS project setup, and a WM9 Publishing point setup.
When we pulish the items to the server, it appears that WM9 is not part of
the picture.
Can stream WMV but not ASF via SMIL?29 Dec 2004 17:52 GMT9
Running Win2k3 Standard. If I go to http://address/ads/ad1.asf in Windows
Media player it plays fine. If I create an on-demand publishing point and
create a wsx file and have it open that exact same file it says "Windows
Media Player can't play the file".
Playlist size limit28 Dec 2004 14:41 GMT1
I have a pub point with a source set to ASPX page which returns a playlist.
Everything is OK, but it looks like HTTP Data Source plugin can't handle
playlists bigger than 32 kBytes. When that ASPX returns a playlist bigger
than 32kB WMS reports an error:

Announcement file questions22 Dec 2004 01:51 GMT4
OK, I do feel like an idiot... but what am I missing here?
I've installed Enterprise Server 2003, IIS, and the Media Services. I've
got the encoder working and I'm pulling a stream from the encoder. I ran
the multicast announcement wizard and tested the file - I can see that the
RTP and Multicast21 Dec 2004 21:05 GMT1
I just read about the new features of the WMS9 and I noticed that there is
finally support for IETF standards (RTSP and RTP). Since I'm interested in
using Multicast I was wondering if I could configure WMS9 to send out in RTP
rather then the proprietary MMS format?
Question on dynamic SMIL creation19 Dec 2004 18:24 GMT3
I've been trying to figure out how to add additional videos to an ASX that
is already loaded by a client (embedded in a webpage). I'm giving up on
doing it client-side since I can't figure it out and client-side isn't as
secure as server-side playlists.
WMS. "Unable to establish a connection to the server" after reboot.18 Dec 2004 23:35 GMT5
For some reason I'm now getting an error: "Unable to establish a connection
to the server" after rebooting my windows 2003 server.
When I click on OK WMS will start okay, but I do need to add the server
again "Add a server".
Registering WMSServerTypeLib.dll in Windows XP17 Dec 2004 21:38 GMT1
I am building a DLL with VB6 to manipulate WMS9 running on .NET Server 2003.
Occurs that I'm developping in a machine running Windows XP.
First I installed the WMS9 SDK and after uninstall, I'm running one DLL using

Limiting IP's?17 Dec 2004 05:29 GMT1
Hello, I want to prevent stream rippers from connecting to the server on an
"on demand" publishing point more than once. Is there anyway to do this or is
there a plugin available that can do the trick.
The WMS 9 only has to limit clients but IMO should also have a setting to
