Like many of us, I am currently experimenting with WMS9 on Windows 2003
server -  Enterprise. My goal is to finally broadcast my own musical
compositions on the web.
I am in the test phase of setting up WMS9, with only one PubPt, called

I'm trying to get Windows Media Services to stream some media. This is
a Windows Server 2003 Standard box. Just as a simple test, I'm
streaming a small static .wmv file I have on my system. I put the 2MB
.wmv file in C:\wmpub\WMRoot and setup a new publishing point called

With WMS and WM9, do you have to have two servers - one for encoding
and one for serving clients?
Can you have the encoding card, WM encoder and WMS on the same server
instead?

I wish to encode a whole bunch of MP3 files into WMA format at various
Bitrates so they can stream from my server.
With the Windows Media Encoder it is very Time Consuming to make a Low, Med,
and Hi Bandwidth Version of Each MP3 especially if there is hundreds.

I'm new to Windows Media Services, and I'm trying to get it to stream
mpg files.  Using Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition.
When I try to set up a publishing point, it doesn't list mpg as one of
the file types available, so I can't set up the files that I want to

I would like to enable http streaming on my media services 9 and already
enabled port 8787 for this purpose as my port 80 is in use. When I test my
video internally it works perfectly but when i try it from outside it won't
play. Is this because the outside user has to open port ...

you have to make sure that the file your are trying to access is
