Is there a way for a single WM9 client to pull a hundred or more
streams from the server?  We have server technology that we think
might increase the throughput of a WM9 server but we don't have
hundreds of clients to push the server to its max.
Allow end user to pick bitrate of stream24 Jul 2004 18:16 GMT2
How can I give the end user via the player the ability to switch the source
of a multi-source stream using an .asx file.  Also, how can I give them the
ability to switch bitrates.  MBR doesn't work.  Hardly ever does with my
streamed videos.

Give end users option to switch to other bitrates23 Jul 2004 17:08 GMT2
I have large and growing catalog of media that's all been encoded using MBR.
Often, most of the time frankly, when bandwidth isn't sufficient, the lower
bitrate connection doesn't kick in.  How can I give the end user the ability
to force a lower bitrate connection?
Can I ensure proper client buffering for smooth playback?23 Jul 2004 15:22 GMT2

Publicly Available Multicast Sites22 Jul 2004 18:28 GMT2
Is anyone aware of any sites (public and/or private
sector) that are delivering live media streams (audio and
video), using multicast and will use the Microsoft
Windows Media Player?
Slooooww stream21 Jul 2004 16:57 GMT3
I have tried everything.  My live streams, audio and video, have slowed to an annoying point.  Can't recall a specific event that would have cause this.  I am computer literate enough to be dangerous as that is how I found this forum.
I have tried everythins found on MS and other ...

Streaming Live Sportscast21 Jul 2004 08:27 GMT1
We are trying to broadcast local football games. I will be using Windows Server 2003, with media server 9. The audio source for the games would come from the press box, via a modem or ISDN connection.
We will provide a number and they will dial in the audio source for every game.

I’m working on ATL and W2k3 EA.
Audio Latency on Multicast Streams20 Jul 2004 19:29 GMT1
I'm deploying multicast programme content to around 250 desktops in several open plan office areas...
I have noticed that whilst each machine can connect and render the content each PC seems to differ slightly when playing back the audio element.
This creates a "carcophany" of ...

I would like to bring up Windows Media Services on Windows2003
Standard Edition, but this is much more difficult that it seems it
should be. I understand Windows Media Services is a service, but it
doesn't show up under ControlPanel\AdministrativeTools\Services. Doing

I wanted to know what happens when the SMIL file served through a BROADCAST publishing point and it references an encoder and on deman wmv file in sequence. Does the on demand file also act like a broadcast?
Example:
