If intelligent streaming (i.e. MBR streams) works so well why do I still always see web sites offering separate bit rates (e.g. they have you choose 56k or 100k or 300k). Even the Microsoft sponsored sites. Why not just have one

We return a ASX when a user request to video file. 99.99% of the users computer this will open a WMP and all works fine. But time to time we will get a bug report where the ASX file opens up Notepad on users computer and it displays the ASX file in that notepad. Why is it ?
