Reinstalled 2000 because of multiple problems--clean

I got a really annoying issue - I'm trying to upgrade our
Windows 2k from SP2 to service pack 4 on our server
machines x6 (which all have near identical setups).
5 work without any issues, and upgrade from SP2 to SP4

When i try to install any update(security or other) from
Microsoft Windows update, I have the message, "The Program
can't update Windows 2000 files because the language on
your system is different then the update."

i was trying to install win2k pro.  used the 4 floppy boot
disks, entered win2k setup screen and reformatted my
drive, proceeded with install.
after it does the disk check it says something like there

i have tried to install some olympus software on my pc and
it tells me that i need to have 3.1 or 3.11. is there

I'm having a problem after upgrading my laptop from
windows 98 to 2000 professional. The setup process itself
completed okay, but I had to leave before it had finished
