I own a three year old HP Pavilion computer with a 766 Mhz
Celeron processor.  I'm running ME software but I'm having
a few problems that lead me to consider upgrading the
windows software to version 2000.

After installing SP4, network/internet access is very
slow.  Web/intranet pages are slow to load, or time out,
or don't load at all (both in IE5 and Netscape).  Network
drive access is slow.  Netmeeting is slow.  etc.

All OK with  W2000 Pro SP3 and NAVC 7.61
Turned off NAVC 7.61 to install SP4.
Installed SP4, forgot to resume NAVC for a week, then
unable to update and resume.

i have sound when my computer boots up, but it quickly
shuts off when running startup processes. what is
conflicting? how do i fix it?

If I click on my computer, network places, etc - I get the
icons (large) for that menu, but I do not get any of the
menu bars (IE: I see the lovely blue bar, then the
folders/icons). Of course, if I explore, no problem.

If I boot my w2k-CD-Rom, it doesn?t recognize the external HDD which is

I have a laptop that does not have a cd rom, but it does

continuous loop where it restarts half way through install
