Trying to do updates but when I go to MS update site and my machine is
scanned I get this:
   "files required to use Microsoft update are no longer registered or
installed on your computer."

I just installed windows 2000 on my computer as i have had nothing but
problems out of windows xp professional and have had a series of problems:-
Windows Crashing
Poor Performance

No offense is intended to any responders to this newsgroup but:
1. The only MVP signature for this group was posted last October.
2. Ought not the relatively few W2K clients who are asking for help here
have some basis for relying upon the suggestions offered?

Automatic updates are turned off.  When I go to manually
update 2KPro it gives me an error box that says I have to
have automatic updates turned on, tranfer agent active and
one other service.  I turned on both of the services it
