I used the windows update tool in Internet Explorer to install SP4 on Win2k. After reboot I log back in and a few seconds later i get the "computer locked" screen. This happens over and over again. I log in and then with about 5 seconds it goes back to "This Computer is in use

Is there a way to remove the $NTUninstall, etc. stuff without losing the ability to recover files? Seems that most/many of the uninstall/log files created by windows/office update are not needed, but I've not seen a clean way to remove them.

After installing/applying the dozen+ security updates on Tuesday, internet exporer intermittently, but regularly, crashes, with no explanation why, and no suggestions for a cause or fix. I don't really expect a reply, since the vast majority of threads I see here

10 new updates came in this morning on a w2k server. I started installing them, but the first one (KB917008) is sitting there at 100% CPU use for half an hour already. Did anyone else have a problem with it?

Clean install of W2K SP4 with IE6 SP1 installed. I click on Windows Update and all that happens is the "Searching for Updates" bar comes up and just sits there, nothing else happens at all. No message, nothing. How do I fix this?

Our main accounting server is running Windows 2000 server SP4 and SQL 2000. I recently installed a bunch of updates that Automatic Updates had downloaded. However, 8 updates were unable to install. One of these was KB891816, Update Rollup 1 for Windows 2000 SP4.
