When I install Rollup 1 by using MS update, the event manager show a
successful install; but rerunning MS update insists that it needs to be
installed.
I have tried downloading the update manually and installing; same result.

Hello, we have an application that does not work if two KBxxxxxx updates are
installed.
I have the two problem updates listed in WSUS to not install on the

I just installed Service Pack 4 on two Windows 2000 machines and received a
bluescreen from hidusb.sys on both of them (error code was 22). They have
ASUS Motherboards (I can look up the exact model number in case it matter)

I'm looking for a way to manage the download and installation of Windows
updates remotely. Unfortunately the environment I'm working with has some
very strict production hours, and several flavors of production servers, so a
Group Policy isn't ideal for what I need to do.

The latest round of XP Windows updates caused the background on Win32
application menus to turn from grey to white.
The menu I'm refering to is the one you see on most applications that looks

After applying Update Rollup 1 for Windows 2000 SP4, it interferes with
saving to floppy.  We've tried updating office 2000 to SP3 and that doesn't

I hard drive failed on a computer running W2k so I installed a new drive and
then W2k @ SP4. There is only a slow Internet connection so I installed the
Update rollup 1 (windows 2000-KB891861-x86-enu) from a copy I had on CD.

Oh dopey me! I spent 3 hours last night, 3 hours today, updating from the
site, and still 45 minutes left (on downloading sp4 from windows update). I
did not see the sp4 for end users until I spent all the time above with the
others! Why in the world would it be near the bottom ...

Does anyone know any software that can check Microsoft windows and microsoft
office for missing products and updates and deploy it as well.
Currently we are using shavlik but its too expensive. We are looking for the
alternatives.
