My wife's computer at work is running Windows 2000 and needs to be updated. Am I correct in that all it needs is the latest Service Pack ( SP4 ) and that will include all previous Services Pack updates.

I was doing a windows update last night, and my computer froze. I had to hit the power button to overcome. Upon rebooting I get "unexpected kernel mode trap" and then it attempts to restart again.

If you have a problem with KB826232 (update repeats again and again), you might try the following: Check if you have a map called C:\WINNT\WinHelp. If do, copy the tshoot.* files from this map to C:\WINNT\Help.

Rebuilt a Win2k system starting with reformatting the hard drive. Set up the OS, installed all hardware specific drivers; everything worked fine. Installed all service packs and patches up through SP4; still all was fine. Made a new Emergency rescue disk.
