If I perform a fresh install of Windows 2000 professional to correct a
problem with starting windows, will this impact any of my existing files and
programs that I had installed?

Work for a non-profit agency - another company donated ten Gateway PCs each
with a COA and license key stuck to the side.  Problem is they did not
include the OEM W2K discs.    Tried an OEM cd from Compaq and one from Dell
but the Gateway would not boot from them.  Tried a retail ...

I have a computer with win2K that I received from a friend of mine.  The
computer has two users defined and she had only the userid and password that
she was using and thought it was an member of the administrators group
because she had install rights.

In light win2k does not understand HyperThreading and Multicore CPUs but the
cores/HT technology it is not clear to me what is the recommended way of
installing win2k professional for let's say Athlon dual core.

I want to setup a Windows 2000 Pro machine
with the smallest C: drive that is possible and
still have a funcitonal machine.  It needs to have
the standard driver set plus a nic card for file
