after installing Service Pack 4 I checked the condition of the machine
with Belarc Advisor (the May 18 version) and was told that 81 security
fixes were missing. I then found a set of security fixes bundled into
what Microsoft called "Rollup 1" and installed that. That was an

We have a Windows 2000 domain with two domain controllers. Various roles
are shared amongst the DCs. The DCs are also DNS and DHCP servers. They have
no other roles. There are no errors or warnings in either of the DCs event
logs. DCs are fully patched.

I am seeing a situation where Outlook 2007 running on Vista throws a
warning and in the same situation, Outlook 2003 running on XP does
not.  The warning is:

I noticed on one of my Windows 2000 workstations that the Security log in
Event Viewer is showing Failure Audits from another PC.  The other PC is a
Windows XP workstation.  The failure audits are ID 681 and 529.  These are
logon type errors.  Why is it logging on someone elses ...

I realize this is a simple question in the scheme of things.  As a newcomer
to this area, I would appreciate your help.
I rarely deal with security items and now need to create AD security groups
to allow certain users only read access to a set of folders/subfolders, while

I am having issues with the default domain policy applying to my computer
even though it is disabled on the domain and am looking for a way to to
remove all references to it on the local machine if possible.
Here is a brief synopsis of what I have done that led me to this point:
