We have an instance where we are receiving two reverse records for
each server and each DHCP entry.  We are using Windows 2003 server for
DNS and DHCP with AD Integration.  When we enter a host, we will get
an reverse record like 10.10.100.5    johnson.win.mydomain.com (from
dns & host file24 Jul 2008 04:41 GMT9
Hi I have to use a host file to specify a local server ip and DNS(to go to
internet). Can I get if if host file and put the local IP in a DNS entry?

I have a DNS server hosting Win2k domain namespace. Upon every reboot, the
reverse zone completely disappears, and it is the primary zone for PTR
records. The whole zone completely vanishes and I have to rebuild. Although
it is simply 20 or so records I am trying to understand ...

Hello, new to the group,
I am having a strange problem with a DNS server capitalizing a few
entries in our AD integrated DNS server.
When I type in a particular set of hosts and aliases for these hosts,

We have one old Windows NT4.
We want to use it only to work as DNS server, to provide DNS services for
external remote VPN hosts that are not in our Windows 2003 Domain.
We want to mantain only one primary zone in that server with our intranet
