I have a one server with two NIC.
first one is connect to LAN and another one connect to DMZ.
OS is windows 2000 SP4 and Updated and commuter name is SERVER1.
When I call my server name [SERVER1.MYDOMAIN.COM] or [MYDOMAIN.COM] from

I am having some issues with DNS. here is my situation, i am unable to
authenticate any shares or printers on my domain, kerebos logins work fine
however the user to share SID check is not working. upon inspection my dns
log is filling with the following errors.

I've got a problem with our two DNS-Servers:
There is a AD-Domain with 3 DCs and 6 memberservers. Two of these DCs are
DNS-Servers with w2k sp4 installed. The other DC is running with w2k3
sp1. The memberservers are mixed w2k-sp4 and w2k3-sp1.

I am having a problem with nslookup. It gets timed out for only couple
of sites. But when we add out ISP's IP as the server and then do the
nslookup, it works fine. The DNS server has a forwarde also configured.

My office has two new XP machine, 5 win98 based machine and 1 W2K Domain
Controller (DC) form a simple network. I found that both of two XP logon DC
are very slow so that I set both XP machine DNS IP address point to DC and

Use the first DNS server defined in the list until it becomes unavailable
then moves to the next one in the list?
It will continue to use this next server until it too becomes unavailable

I apologize that this message is somewhat off-topic.  We have a proprietary
system that is running BIND 9.1.3 and I need to populate this server with
the appropriate records for our domain controllers.
If someone could point me to a HOWTO I would greatly appreciate it.

I have run into a very bizarre problem at my new job and no one knows
the history or how to fix the DNS problems because there are so many
domains.

Our main ADI zone in our DNS 'disappeared' from all 3 DCs. We were able to
add it back on to 2 of the DCs after a time but only as a secondary zone on 1
of the 3. An hour after this the two AD integrated zones disappeared and now
when we try to recreate the zone as Primary or ADI ...

We have a windows 2k server running AD with a domain name of just 'domain'
with no .com or any . suffix. Is this okay? What happens when we use adprep
to add a second server running windows 2k3? the windows 2k server is running
DNS.

We have two DCs, mydc1 and mydc2. DNS is installed on mydc1 and is having
standard primary zones (such as mydomain.com, mydomain2.com etc.). Both DCs
are running Windows 2003 server. The major zone is mydomain.com which is the

I built a windows 2003 DNS server with a primary DNS zone which is
configured to allow dynamic updates. All the machines (XP) on the
network (no domain, workgroup) can update this DNS with their IP
addresses.

Can the DHCP server in NT4 allocate a static route for a range of ip
addresses?  The 033 Static router option doesnt appear to allow a range
of addresses to be entered, or allow a particular subnet mask?  Is it
possible in NT4?
