I'm setting up the hardware for a small home office. The plan is to run Hyper-V server with several small server clients. To ensure maximum speed I'm considering installing it on a SSD. Specifically a Crucial SATA 6G SSD (256MB) controlled via an ASUS U3S6 controller.

Friends, We have a Server2008 host, and three virtual Server2008 machines within it. The host has a dedicated NIC, the three virtual servers share one NIC, and all is well, sort of.

An issue where the server has OEM Windows Server 2008 R2 Datacenter license. One of the VM's need to be a Server 2008 (e.g. not an R2) but affraid if I downgrade the Virtual Key it will not work to install R2 VM's later on. In short (well, long short one);

I have a dell 2950 host running 2005 virtual server with all windows updates. I have moved one guest to this new host and when I start it, the host drops off the network. Never have seen this before. I have 5 other hosts running this same setup.

I just installed Hyper-V Server 2008 R2 onto a local SCSI drive. I have a large RAID in the box using an Areca RAID card where I store all my files, including VMs. I loaded its driver during install, so Hyper-V can see the RAID and my gazillions of files on it.
