After MS updates, admin page will show up, but will lockup with any choice.  
The VS services will start and stop before trying to access the admin site,

We do have an hyper-v server hosting multiple test machines. This is _not_ a
Win2008 machine with the Hyper-V role enabled, this is a pure Hyper-V
server, without GUI. Most of the time, this server is running, but unused. I
would like to be able to shut it down and turn it on ...

I have tried installing VS 2005 R2 several times on a XP Pro SP3 machine for
testing and development. I installed IIS for the web admin console, rebooted
tried installing VS 2005 and every time the installation gets to the point of
"installing network drivers" the installation ...

eg Initial vhd file is 50gb partition into c:\ 20gb, d:\30gb
Extending the vhd is easy , but I want the new space to be merged into d:\
instead of creating another drive letter.
any way of doing this ?

I have a Server 2008 x64 running Hyper V.  I am having a really strange
problem.
I installed a Server 2003 R2 vitural machine, it seems to work fine.  I add
IIS to run some websites (moodle, wss, and another basic site).  Again

I did a search here and other sites but couldn't find any info on this.
Would someone plase direct me to the right place?
I'm trying to move a Win2K3 VM to my second Hyper-V Server.
I also have VMMC installed if that may be a better way to do this.

I am trying to install SLES 10 on hyperV platform.  After running the
setup.pl script to install the driver and make xen the default OS, I am
seeing a Fatal exception after reboot.  Has anyone seen similar kind of

Before I go out and test this, can someone tell me off hand if
converting from a fixed disk to dynamic reduces the size of the disk to

Running a DELL Poweredge 1950 and the network on the host disconnects when I
turn on a guest machine.  Both nics are setup on the guest:

Ok, for a newbie with virtualization I've had pretty good luck on my Windows
Server 2008 standard server with hyper-v. So far I've successfully installed
and frequently use a Vista guest, a Windows 2003 standard server guest,  and
I even got Ubuntu up and running.
