Only way to restart vm is to discard the saved state.

Can VMWare 5.5 run VMs created in Virtual Server 2005 R2?29 Jun 2006 20:16 GMT4
Gurus,
I have built many VMs in Virtual Server 2005 R2.  Does anyone know if VMWare
5.5 Workstation can mount and run these VMs?  I know this is a Microsoft
newsgroup but figured the audience here would have skills that cross-over.
Determining VM Name at Shutdown29 Jun 2006 13:39 GMT2
I was wondering if it is possible to determine the name of a virtual
machine in a script when the virtual machine is shut down.
If so, is it possible through the Virtual Server Scripts section in the
Server Properties screen?  Or do I need to use the COM component and
Shutting down guests in VS hosted on physical cluster29 Jun 2006 08:07 GMT3
The guide to clustering a VM is very useful and works well, however, I find
that I can't actually shutdown a guest without the cluster service
automatically restarting it! I know this is primarily "by design", however
there are bound to be occassions when you wish to perform ...

I've spent three hours trying to install a guest OS into Virtual Server 2005

My keyboard does not work, but my mouse cursor does change. So, how do you
install a guest OS?

Compression of Virtual Hard disks28 Jun 2006 04:09 GMT6
When we started using, we (wrongly) assumed a virtual hard drive created to
be X gigabytes in the guest machine would not grow beyond that size on the
host. Thus, we deployed six VMs with 10GB disks on hosts with 80 GB disks,
thinking 6 vhd x 10 GB = 60 GB plus a little for ...
