Clone without VSMT?30 Apr 2005 06:58 GMT8
It appears VSMT requires Win2003 Enterprise Edition as the underlying
platform when running the utility to migrate physical to virtual
machines.
Our problem:  We do not have Enterprise edition on any of our servers.

Confusion about Linked virtual disks30 Apr 2005 02:57 GMT2
Among the hard disk config options (expanding virtual, fixed virtual, etc) is
an option to create a "linked" hard disk.  Dropdown options include the hard
drives that are currently mounted on the system.
However, when I create one of these linked disks and try to apply it to a VM,
Resolution29 Apr 2005 22:32 GMT1
Could anyone tell me if there's anyway to get the resolution of a VM up to
1280x1024 at 32 bit colour? We can only manage 32 bit colour at a resolution
of only 1152x864.
I have Virtual Machine Additions installed, but is there anyway to get a
Deploy vm - Can't copy boot.ini29 Apr 2005 22:00 GMT1
I'm trying to migrate a physical server using VSMT. Each time I run the
server_DeployVM.cmd, the process stops at the boot.ini copy step with the
following error:
ADS Controller did not recognize the variable Device.User.vVMScriptPath.
Increasing disk size29 Apr 2005 16:58 GMT4
I have a virtual machine that was created that has a Dynamic disk, it states
in the settings that the max size is 16GB and is currently expanded to 7.6GB,
but it seems to now only have about 1.71 GB left which makes it around only
10GB

ADS, VSMT, using Virtual Servers?27 Apr 2005 21:19 GMT5
Has anyone ever used virtual servers to migrate physical servers to virtual
servers?  We are in a hardware crunch, and this seems to be the only way for
me to start migrating our physical servers to virtuals.  Basically, use our
existing physical DHCP server, loading 2003 ...
VSMT Deployment issue27 Apr 2005 19:07 GMT4
I am at the point where I am running the Source_DeployVM.cmd script. I
keep getting "No reply from server" on the VM during the RIS Disk boot.
I have already applied the 875533 hotfix to ADS. The machine running
ADS is running Windows 2003 SP1. The VM's OS will be NT 4 SP6a. I can
add virtual disk27 Apr 2005 16:49 GMT1
When I go to the Virtual Hard Disk Properties page, it does not show a link
for "Add Disk" as the documentation suggests.
I have successfully created a new virtual hard disk, but I don't see how to
add it to my server.
Advanced Virtual Cluster27 Apr 2005 11:02 GMT3
I understand that it is possible to create a 2-node cluster using Virtual
Server, but is it possible to have each node installed onto a serarate
physical box? This would require a shared disk system, but could this be
achieved by storing a .vhd on an iSCSI target or a FC shared ...
Virtual machine auto start26 Apr 2005 22:48 GMT1
I have VS2005 running on Win2K3 Server and one virtual machine, but the
checkbox to "Run virtual machine under the following user account" is
disabled.  The only two items enabled on the "General Properties" page are
"Virtual machine name" and "Action when virtual server stops".
VSMT problem26 Apr 2005 16:41 GMT4
OK, so I worked my way 90% through getting the VSMT up and running.  I'm
trying to migrate a Dell PowerEdge 2400.  I had to use the rbfg boot floppy,
since the NIC doesn't support PXE, but that seemed to work fine.  ADS is
happy, and I was even able to grab an image of the server ...
Strange behavior when removing/re-adding virtual NIC's26 Apr 2005 15:42 GMT8
I've been experiencing this problem for quite some time now and I'm not sure
what to make of it.
I'll have two virtual NIC's: External and Internal
Let's say I shutdown the VM, remove the External NIC from the config and
