Does anyone of you knows a reason why indexing server is not indexing the content of some files? The files that need to be indexed don't have the regular extensions but instead they have extensions like .001, .002, ... instead of .doc, .txt,...

Server 2003. How can I force Index server to cache custom meta tags so that I can utilize my VB ASP.NET search page to query the custom tags as I can query, say, DocTitle?

Is there a way of giving users read-only access to the Indexing Service console? I have tried creating customized consoles but they do not contain anything when opened by a user without administrative privileges.

I have an VB app which creates html files. Per run it creates around 7000 files. That folder is indexed using MS Index server, running on Windows 2000 server. I do see the following message once I run the app every 10 mins atleast for

If we have the indexing service running on one server and we have requests coming from two d/f servers requesting the indexing service to do the search, can the single indexing service handle the multiple requests coming from two servers in other words handle high load?

Is there any difference in how the indexing service does it work when the WWW Server field is filled-in in the tracking tab vs. when that is left blank? Should one manually add the root of the web to the directory list if the WWW Server field is filled-in? Thanks

We are replacing an older server with a newer one, the search works fine on the older server, but not on the new server. WE checked settings between the old and new hardware, (both are Win2K) and everything looks the same.
