Does Index Server catalog image files such as GIFs, Bitmaps, JPEGs by
default? Or are iFilters required?
Am I right in saying that the indexing TIF files does require an iFilter?

Is there a best way to limit the search range?
I have a folder structure that has starts with a single common folder at
level 1, within which are several equivalent folders at level 2 (NTFS

I've just hit this strange issue of characterization not being switched on
on W2k, but also noticed that two of the query pages we have, that happen
to only use pdf file stores, have been working fine all the way through.
Is the characterization registry switch specific to MS ...
