Is there a way to set permissions in such a way as allow ftp access to
folders beneath the FTP root without allowing access to the root.

I am trying to get a grip on Windows 2000, firewalls and ftp. My
understanding is the only way ftp will work is the client needs to set their
ftp program (or IE) to passive. This would not make for a very good

I have setup an ftp site with user isolation. I have the following
directory structure:
c:\ftphome
    \LocalUser

I installed SP1 for 2003 web edition and external users now cant connect to
the ftp service. Internally its ok (i.e from LAN on diagram below). I can
connect ok.  Seems to indicate routing problem.
