Tryign to understand mail flow.  
scenario:
Textbook front end in dmz.  Back end is inside the
firewall.  Back end is using front end for outbound smtp

Messages are being held in PreSubmissionQueue to the point
where you can send a message to yourself and it can take
up to 10min to showup in the inbox.
No Exchange AV software installed.

When sending to one remote domain, our email transactions fail.  By looking at the logs I can tell that it get through negotiating helo, mail from, rcpt to, data....
