exchange 2000 recovery fails31 Oct 2005 16:20 GMT5
A customer runs SBS 2000 with Exchange 2000.
A harddisk failure (E:\) caused the mailbox store to be lost.
I restored the database from a few days back.
Logfiles location:  D:\exchsrvr\mdbdata
Backup failure points to corrupt data that can't be found27 Oct 2005 23:11 GMT2
This is pretty esoteric, so I'm hoping one of you has an idea for me to run
down.  I have an Exchange 2000 server, and use BackupExec 9.1 to backup the
mailboxes through an Exchange agent.  When the backup job gets to one user's
mailbox, it generates errors that report the ...
Moving database & log files via ESM27 Oct 2005 18:56 GMT1
I want to move the database and log files on my Exchange 2000 (SP3) servers.
If I use ESM and change the path location of the files are there any gotchas
to watch out for?  I am assuming that the IS service needs to be running but
that the store needs to be dismounted during ...
transaction logs are rapidly growing..27 Oct 2005 16:19 GMT3
The transaction logs are rapidly growing to a huge number of files.
Every 5 minute, Exchange creates about 3-4 files of 5 MB size in that
storage gorup, so within a few hours we have about 3 GB transaction logs,
and that continues until the harddrive is full. When i use filemon to ...
Pub1.edb Size27 Oct 2005 16:16 GMT1
I recently deleted some files from my public folders to free up some room
till I can get SP2 intalled (to take that nice 16 Gb limit off). I have
archived about 7 Gb worth of files but when I look at the database
size(Program files\Exchsrvr\MDBdata\Pub1.edb)  pub1.edb actually ...
Exchange 2000 mdbdata folder at 16.2GB26 Oct 2005 08:57 GMT2
Good morning. I am trying to figure out what the best mode for defragmenting
and checking the consistency on the databases is.
I have a D: drive where my mdbdata folder is now with 5GB free. I added 2
drives to the server and now have 36GB of space available there.
Mail Disable Public Folder24 Oct 2005 18:12 GMT3
If you mail disable a Public Folder what should be your expectation for the
email address and other inforamtion to be synchronised with AD?
Should this happen immediately?  There is a post from David Sengupta [MVP]
from Sep 14 2001, 9:39 am that suggests that this process may take ...
how to: Safely Remove the Mailbox from the First Storage Group21 Oct 2005 16:10 GMT1
I have an Exch2000 Server, single site with multiple Storage Groups.  I would
like to remove the only the Mailbox from the First Storage Group without
effecting any SMTP service accounts or System Attendant accounts or other
services not listed in that Mail Store.
public folders and creating documents21 Oct 2005 09:08 GMT5
I have a client that would like to share documents within exchange, nothing
too complicated and it has to be simple for the end user. How do I create a
public folder that will hold documents? Would it make more sense to create a
MS sharepoint server and integrate that with ...

Restore Information Store with Different Server Name17 Oct 2005 18:15 GMT3
I ran into a problem where I had to do a quick backup using Windows Backup of
my Information Store and format the entire server (the server name was
rumpfnt2). I reinstalled everything back to original settings but gave the
server a different name (Rumpfntmail). I try to use the ...

Since my inplace upgrade from E2000 to E2003 SP1, on a reboot, I
get Event id 623.  I just found a KB article which deals with this issue.

Has anyone had the issue and has anyone applied the hotfix from this article?
