Error restoring with NTbackup30 Sep 2004 06:27 GMT1
My UPS failed last night, and my sbs server shutdown. In doing so it messed
up the information stores so they won't mount.
Since I have a full backup and incrementals of Exchange using NTbackup I
followed the procedure to restore from the Exchange Server 2003 Disaster

I have many users that have been migrated to another
Exchange system. I'd like to recover the file space in
the information stores that is no longer used after the
migration. Since I have IFS (M:) enabled, once I identify

I had a hardware crash, fter wich the Exchange database corrupted.
The crash was due to a scsi / DLT failure, so the backup was not completed.
eseutil /r won't work because of the corruption.
eseutil /p on pub1.edb worked fine, but.....

We're in a midst of a 5.5 to 2000 migration. We have applied forest prep and
domain prep and an ADC is in place with a Public Folders connection. However

We have Exchange 2000 and run a batch file at night to stop all the Exchange
and McAfee GroupSheild services for an offline backup of the edb files.
However at least twice a week the Information Store takes hours to stop
instead of normally a minute or so.

I checked this database can be overwritten by a restore

I hope someone can help me.  Our Exchange 2000 all of a
sudden deleted/disapeared (not in deleted items/sent
items/etc...) all email from its server mailboxes for ALL

dimension of  priv1.stm file is 12 GB,  instead the edb file is about 4 GB,

I have two Exchange 2000 servers. On one the priv1.edb
and priv1.stm files are nearly the same size, 3.5 Gb
vs.2.4 Gb. On the other one the priv1.stm is almost three
times the size of the priv1.edb file, 11.7 Gb vs. 3.5 Gb.
