Hi,
tried to install w2k8 on an Asus P5Q Pro for testing.
First setup loads its drivers  and shows the black screen
with the green bar moving.

After that it continues with the greyish screen.
The pointer is displayed an can be moved.

After some time (>1minute) it seems like it tries to access the DVD
and the pointer freezes immediately resulting in a reboot a few seconds
later.

Tried to used different Sata settings IDE/SATA/Raid.
Even tried safe mode with both x64 and x86 Hyper-V versions
with the same results.

However,
installing/running w2k3 and Vista on this board works fine!

Are there any know hardware issues with this board?
Do I need to install with a SATA DVD drive instead
of a PATA one connected to the Marvel controller?

Any help would be appreciated!

thanks

Hi,
you can try to install 2k8 within a virtual mashine, just to if it works.

otherwise , i would recommend  to download 2k8 with a downloadmanager like
getright.

Hi,

installing in a VM works fine!
Any suggestions for a board supporting the 9550  working with 2k8 right out
of the box?

thanks

on bottom , one mentions express gate , what ever this is

-or may be manually setting udma mode for the dvd drive in bios
-may be a "40 lines only" cable instead of 80 lines cable ?!
-dont forget correct jumper setting
