I have aW2K3 server that belongs to a domain. I would like to set security
privileges for files with the authority being the directory that is the
domain controller.  However the locations only shows the local host (the
server itself).  What do I need to do to see the Directory from the domain
controller >

Thanks,

RM.

Logon to the Windows server using an Active Directory domain account.
Then try to set the NTFS security. The location should default to the
domain.

I am logged in with a domain account.  Still only shows the local host name
in the locations.

Hmmmm, I don't generally use the locations button, but just type the first
part of the username or groupnamehaven't looked into the "object names" text
area, and it seems to resolve them against the domain. Have you tried doing
that? What about prefixing the AD object names with the domain as in:
mydomain\groupobject?

Has there been any resolution to this issue?  I have the same
problem.  I created a new Active directory and added some computers to
it.  Now when I try to change the securities only the local host shows
not the AD domain controller.  although some files already have my AD
account added to the security.  Strange stuff.
