We are planning on upgrading our certificate servers from Windows 2000 to
Windows Server 2003.  We have our Enterprise Root and a subordinate.  We have
upgraded our schema to Windows 2003.  Is there anything we need to do to
prepare for the upgrade?  Are there any resources available that talks about
this upgrade.

Thanks,

Chris

Hi Chris.

You did not mention if you are moving the CAs to new servers or are just
popping in the Windows 2003 cdrom to upgrade to Windows 2003. The link below
shows how to move a CA from one server to another and may be of help. Even
if you are going to upgrade instead I would make sure that you back up the
CA certificate, database, and the System State on those two CA's before you
proceed which is best practice to do anyway. FYI if you install an
Enterprise CA on the Windows 2003 Server Enterprise edition you will have
more options for managing your PKI such as version 2 certificate templates
which can use Group Policy for computers AND users for autoenrollent of
certificates.    --- Steve
