I can do a name lookup for anyone on the internet and it works just fine UNLESS there is an Alias involved with the name.
Example 1 :
C:\>nslookup nws.noaa.gov
Server: dns1.ksdot.org
Address: 165.201.199.60
Non-authoritative answer:
Name: nws.noaa.gov
Address: 140.90.113.200
Using the same domain but with the WWW preceding it... I get a time out every time.
Example 2 :
C:\>nslookup www.nws.noaa.gov
Server: dns1.ksdot.org
Address: 165.201.199.60
DNS request timed out.
timeout was 2 seconds.
*** Request to dns1.ksdot.org timed-out
Using an outside company's DNS to query the same name again... I get an answer every time:
Example 3 :
C:\>nslookup www.nws.noaa.gov DNS.companyx.com
Server: DNS.companyx.com
Address: xxx.xxx.xxx.x
Non-authoritative answer:
Name: prpx.service.mirror-image.net
Addresses: 65.206.60.120, 65.216.72.120, 204.0.99.120
Aliases: www.nws.noaa.gov
Any Ideas on what gives?
Thanks,
