we are hosting a new website inhouse and I'd like to know how setup my DNS to
point to the internal IP of the new site.

Thanks

Is there an internal zone for this domain?
If yes, and it is not the Active Directory domain, create a new host in the
domain's zone, leave the name field blank and give it the IP of the web
site.
If the site is the same domain name as the Active Directory domain, you
won't be able to access the site by domain name only unless the site exists
on all Domain Controllers. The AD Domain name must resolve ONLY to IP
addresses on Domain Controllers that have file sharing enabled. This is for
the two DFS Logon shares on DCs, e.g. \\domain.com\NETLOGON and
\\domain.com\SYSVOL
