Hello,
I have W2K clients and Wk2 Server. I would like to get rid of my citrix
servers.
I have found the product Id
R19-00848 WIN TERMINAL SVR CAL V2003 5MLP DEVICE CAL

or

R19-00846 WIN TERMINAL SVR CAL V2003 5MLP USER CAL

which one (if any) is the one I need to have terminal server licences to
access W2K server ?

Many thanks for your help !

If your clients all run W2K Pro (or XP Pro), then you don't have to
buy any TS CALs at all! These clients receive a free TS CAL from
the TS Licensing Server.

If your clients run W2K Home Edition (or any other down-level OS),
you can buy either one of these licenses.
Note that these are 2003 TS CALs (W2K TS CALs are not for sale eny
more). You will be able to install them on your W2K TSLS by using
your downgrade rights, and they will automatically be installed as
Per Device TS CALs.

From Windows Server 2003 Pricing and Licensing FAQ
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003/howtobuy/licensing/pricl
icfaq.mspx

Q. Can I downgrade a TS CAL for use on a Windows 2000 terminal
server?

A. Yes. You may downgrade Windows Server 2003 TS CALs. However,
both TS User and Device CALs will act as device-based CALs when
accessing a Windows 2000 terminal server, as TS User CALs are not
supported.

So the important questions is: imagine that you want to upgrade to
2003 TS in the future, do you then want Per User or Per Device TS
CAls? That's what should decide which ones to buy now.

Yes. But remember that you *must* install and activate a TS
Licensing Server (on your DC). When you start the TS Licensing
Manager on it, you will see an entry called "Existing Windows 2000
Per Device TS CALs" - available: Unlimited.
That's the pool of free licenses that will be issued to your
clients, when they connect to your W2K Terminal Server.
