I am trying to set up a trust relationship between two
servers over a wan. One is NT40 and the other is win2k
running active directory. I edited the host and lmhosts
filss. I can ping the servers and nbtstat -c shows the
domain. I configure nt40 trusting domain and then go w2k
server and get error  The Domain cannot be contacted.
I am logged in as the domain admin.
How can I get them to trust each other or 2way trust?
What else should I check?

Make sure these ports are open on the firewalls, UDP 137,138 and TCP 139.
Also use the following type of lmhosts file on both PDC's(the PDC emulator
on the Win2k side) on each end. Be extremely accurate with your lmhosts file
to make sure you have the correct number of spaces on the 0x1b entry.
