Thank you for your help, my problem occurs after I type in
my password into NT 4.0 service pack 6 bld 1381 and NT
launches. Just after the Virus Scan from Network Assoc
completes, my keyboard/mouse is frozen/locked. Any ideas
on how to fix this greatly appreciated.

Did you recently install any patches? There have been incompatibilities
between some of the patches and older 3rd party keyboard/mouse drivers.
Normally, this occurs early and you wouldn't be even able to log on.

It's possible something loads after you log on. Try holding down the
SHIFT key immediately after logging in to try and bypass anything in your
STARTUP folder. Keep holding it down until the desktop fully appears and
the drive activity ends.

If possible, can you log in using another account?

The SHIFT key solution worked! Thanks very much. So, I
guess something is trying to load from the start-up?
Should I cleant the start-up out? Thanks again.

suggest removing items from startup one at a time to find out exactly which
one is causing problem.

For safety, create a new folder and move the shortcuts into that. That
way, you can then easily move them back.

Alternately, just post here a list of what is in your startup folder,
and maybe somebody can spot the most likely culprits.
