I need to go from XP back to NT 4.0.  I cannot run the
setup it tells me "It is not recommended that Windows NT
4.0 be installed on this version of Windows."  I cannot
boot from the NT CD either.  Please can someone help me
with this problem?  I just need to get started.

NT4 probably cannot access your file system. NT4 setup cannot understand
the NTFS that XP uses, nor can it understand FAT32. This means that you
need to delete all current partitions.

Before you do that, insert your NT CD in your CD drive, go to a command
prompt, move to your CD, into the i386-folder and issue the command "winnt
/ox" to create the three NT boot diskettes.

Next, use those three diskettes to start NT4 setup. When asked where you
want to install, delete all partitions and create new ones.

If your hard disk is larger than 7.8GB, check out this MS Knowledge Base
article:
